Ayushman Card – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)

In 2018, the Government of India launched the new healthcare scheme Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. This scheme helps the poorest 40% of Indians by paying their hospital bills. About 52 crore people take benefits for this programs . Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) offer for free hospital care up to Rs 5,00,000 per annum. People who can avail this scheme get a special card called Ayushman Card. This article will further explain how the program works.

What is Ayushman Card?

The Ayushman Card is available for only people who qualify for the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY program. This card help the poor families get free medical care worth up to 5 lakh rupees per year.

The scheme main objectives is to help 10 crore poor families, which is about 52 crore people. So in 2024, 30 crore people already covered under this scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this program on September 23, 2018, in Ranchi, Jharkhand. It’s the biggest healthcare program run by any government in the world.

Required Documents

The Ayushman Card primary document is Aadhaar Card. Additionally, some states may require other documents also, which are listed below.

It’s essential for citizens to have their names in the Ayushman Card List before they can apply for a card online. The detailed application process is provided below:-

  • Now Log in with your mobile number (Aadhaar Link) and OTP.
  • In this page you can Search by state, district, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, Family ID, or Aadhaar number for ease.
  • You can find the you names in Ayushman Card List. Those without an Ayushman Card will be labeled as “Not-Generated” in the Card Status column.
  • After find your name in list to apply for an Ayushman Card online, just click on the “Action” button.
  • Now you can complete your eKYC using Aadhaar OTP and upload a recent photo.
  • Enter all details such as mobile number, religion, date of birth, PIN code, district, and village.
  • After fill all details, click the “submit” button.

Once you’ve completed above the steps, your Ayushman Card will be approved within 2 weaks, after you can download.


If your Ayushman card are approved then you need to download it ,just follow these steps:-

  • Now Log in as a beneficiary on the and search page opens for finding beneficiaries.
  • Search using details like state, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, Family ID, Location, or your Aadhaar number.
  • Just enter your Aadhaar number and click on the “Search” button.
  • After this you’ll see an Ayushman Card List associated with your Aadhaar Card.
  • For beneficiaries whose KYC is complete or whose card is ready, click on the download option next to their names.
  • To download the card, you need to authenticate yourself.
  • Select “Aadhaar for authentication” and use OTP to verify.
  • After successful verification, the Ayushman Card download page will open.

Now finally you can click on ‘download’ button and to get your Ayushman Bharat Card. After downloading, you get your card as a PDF file, which you can print.

  1. ABHA numbers: Over 594 million people have gotten their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers.
  2. Healthcare workers: More than 328,000 doctors, nurses, and other health workers have signed up.
  3. Health facilities: About 254,000 hospitals, clinics, and other health centers have registered.
  4. Participants: Over 1,805 organizations are actively working with this system.
  5. Health records: More than 363 million health records have been connected to the system.
