What is the Uttar Pradesh Pension Scheme?

The UP Pension Scheme, started in 2019 and the objective to helps senior citizens, widows, disabled people, and those with leprosy in Uttar Pradesh. There are three types of pension plans under this scheme:

  1. Old Age Pension
  2. Widow Pension
  3. Divyang and Leprosy Pension

1. Old Age Pension Scheme

This plan is only for senior citizens in Uttar Pradesh. It is designed to help people who are 60 years or older and they don’t have any financial support for basic needs. Initially, the government provided Rs. 750 per month, but now it has been increased to Rs. 800 per month. This money helps elderly people who live below the poverty line to live a decent life.

2. Widow Pension Scheme

The Widow Pension Scheme supports women who are between 18 and 60 years old and have lost their husbands. The Uttar Pradesh government gives Rs. 500 per month to these widows. This scheme aims to help poor widows, especially from certain castes, to improve their living conditions and provide them with ongoing support.

3. Divyang and Leprosy Pension Scheme

This scheme offers Rs. 500 per month to people who have disabilities, including physical and mental disabilities, or those with leprosy. It helps individuals who may not have enough financial resources to meet their basic needs. To qualify, applicants must have a disability of 40% or more, confirmed by a city or district hospital or authorized personnel.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for the Old Age Pension Scheme

  • Permanent Resident: You must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL): You must live below the poverty line and have a BPL card to prove it.
  • Backward Class: You can apply if you are from a backward class and belong to an economically weaker section of society.
  • No Government Job: You cannot be employed in any government job to be eligible for this pension.

Eligibility for the Widow Pension Scheme

To be eligible for the Widow Pension Scheme, you must:

To qualify for the Divyang Pension Scheme, you need to:

How to Apply Online for the UP Pension Scheme

To apply for the UP Pension Scheme online, follow these steps:

Visit the Official Website >> https://sspy-up.gov.in/.

Select the Pension Type

  • On the homepage, you will see three options:
    • Old Age Pension
    • Widow Pension
    • Divyang and Leprosy Pension

Click on the option that applies to you.

Find the ‘Apply Online’ Link

  • After selecting the pension type, a new link open and now click on ‘Apply online.’ button

Fill in the Application Form

  • You will need to provide all personnel information. The required details typically include:
    • Personal Information: Name, address, date of birth, etc.
    • Identification Proof: Details from your Aadhaar card or other identity documents.
    • Bank Account Details: Your bank account number and IFSC code for direct deposit of the pension.
    • Income Proof: Documents proving your income status.
    • Disability Proof (if applicable): Medical certificate for those applying for the Divyang and Leprosy Pension.
    • Other Documents: Any additional documents as required for your specific pension type, such as a death certificate for widow pensions or a BPL card for old age pensions.

How to Check Your UP Pension Scheme Application Status

To check the status of your UP Pension Scheme application, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the UP Pension Portal
  2. Select Your Pension Option
    • In the top menu bar, click on the relevant option for your pension scheme:
      • Old Age Pension
      • Widow Pension
      • Divyang (Disability) and Leprosy Pension
  3. Check Application Status
    • On the page that opens, look for and click on the “Application Status” link.
  4. Verify Your Details
    • On the next page, select your specific pension scheme again:
      • Old Age Pension
      • Widow Pension
      • Divyang (Disability) and Leprosy Pension
  5. View Your Application Status
    • Enter your registration ID and registered mobile number in the appropriate fields.
    • Click on the button to receive an OTP (One-Time Password) on your mobile.
    • Enter the OTP you receive, then submit the information to view the current status of your application.
